Greetings.
I'm brand-new to this forum, so please treat me gently...?
SyncBack v3.2.26.0
OS: WinXP Professional SP3
Browser: Internet Explorer 8 (8.0.6001.18702)
Security: Zone Alarm Security Suite: 10.0.250.000
OK - so here goes nothing...
I've been using SyncBack for quite a while now (2+ years), with NO issues. But due to an update by my security software supplier (Checkpoint / ZASS), it became necessary to update my IE browser from IE7 to IE8.
No difference in hardware, and yet all of a sudden my "Favorites" folder takes ages to back-up.
Further research showed that there seems to be EXACTLY a 3 DAY difference between the Source and the Destination folders' time & date stamps. And I mean EXACTLY 3 days - to the millisecond.
How weird?
I have searched this forum and also the web for answers - and this syndrome has been mentioned sporadically, but never fully explained. Or maybe I haven't found the correct site / page...?
Whatever, the "Favorites" Folder is the ONLY folder affected.
All OTHER folders AND files are NOT affected, and all back-up as previously experienced with NO issues - all time-and-date stamps are valid, and only modified data is backed-up.
One back-up is via a router on a LAN to a laptop (also with IE8 and WinXP), whilst the other is via USB to an External HD.
BOTH back-ups are affected, but again ONLY with the "Favorites" folder. And it doesn't matter whether I choose to select a group, or a single task within that group to back-up.
All 3 relevant HDs are NTFS, therefore the "FAT filesystems is accurate only to within 2 seconds" issue is, I believe, irrelevant here.
This has only happened since I installed IE8.
This also only seems to happen AFTER access to the Internet is shut-down / interrupted (router and modem reboot), but whilst the EXD and PCs are still switched on.
I've read on this forum that the SyncBack Freeware (and therefore the support) may soon be terminated. Shame, IMHO.
But if I BUY the SE version, will this problem disappear...?
Or is this an IE8 "NTFS records times on disk in UTC(GMT)" issue, caused by being orphaned from the Internet clock for short periods?
In which case, does SyncBack SE bypass / ignore / deal with this hiccup?
Any help gratefully appreciated.
